It's pretty common to get asked what are the top x (pick a number 10,
20, 5 it doesn't matter) sellers in a particular category. Oh, and squeeze all the
others into an all other category and give me a total. So a report on the top 10
selling SKU's by product line may look like this. Want to make it pretty - put it in
a pie chart. The numbers are the same.

How does the product do here. Can it do it without calling in a DBA or
writing 3 GL code?
Now for the twist. Not only allow them to pick item that the are displaying
- units, dollar volume, margin, but also whether they display the top 5 or
any other number like the top 20 or 8. Let's add some
more information in the subtotals. Like if a product is part of
a larger group, such as a product line - what's that product's
percentage of the product line total? |
